Controller - Remote
As the Controller (FLSA Exempt role), you are responsible for leading the accounting team by managing daily accounting tasks and team members. The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure; routinely review reconciliations and journal entries to ensure accurate financial information, in accordance with GAAP policies and procedures.
- Supervise a team of accounting professionals – including training and mentoring the staff on internal processes and procedures.
- Work with the senior leadership team to build strategic initiatives and implement processes to increase accounting operation productivity.
- Comply with local and state government reporting requirements and tax filings; including but not limited to various state sales tax filings, state and local business tax filings, and tangible property tax filings.
- Collaborate with account managers, sales team, and department leaders to review and understand the financial impact of customer contracts.
- Interpret and manage vendor contracts and relationships.
- Develop and implement new procedures and processes to enhance the workflow of the department and solve new challenges as they occur.
- Ensure an accurate and timely reporting of all company financial information monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
- Licensed CPA is required.
- Previously held a leadership position during growth phase of $100+ million revenue.
- 5+ years of experience in public accounting is highly preferred.
- Experience working in private equity backed company is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in multi-currency environment is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and usage of GAAP financial statements.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Driven, self-motivated, and goal-oriented.
- Ability to work autonomously, perform well under pressure, and manage change effectively.
