Director of Project Management Office - Remote
The Director of Project Management Office (PMO) (FLSA Exempt role) is responsible for overseeing the organization’s project management function, ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. This leadership role is critical in driving the strategic direction of project management processes, tools, and methodologies to deliver successful project outcomes. The Director of PMO will manage a team of project managers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide thought leadership in managing the company's portfolio of projects.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and mentor a team of project managers to drive excellence and continuous improvement.
- Define and implement best practices, processes, and methodologies for project management.
- Develop and enforce project management standards aligned with strategic goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize the project portfolio.
- Provide thought leadership on project management tools, techniques, and frameworks.
- Responsible for ongoing process improvement and efficiency gains to ensure scalability in the PMO.
- Oversee the execution of multiple projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Prioritize projects, allocate resources, and monitor performance to meet key milestones and deliverables.
- Regularly update senior management on project status, risks, issues, and changes in scope.
- Develop and manage project budgets to ensure financial constraints.
- Allocate resources efficiently to maximize project success.
- Evaluate project performance against budget and scope, identifying areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with Account Management and Sales to ensure resource alignment with client expectations and project timelines.
- Align project milestones with revenue recognition budget and modeling.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between senior leadership and project team.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination among all stakeholders.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and maintain strong relationships.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks.
- Address project issues and obstacles in a timely manner.
- Conduct post-project reviews to learn lessons and implement improvements.
- Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities for the project management team.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
- Establish clear performance goals and monitor progress.
- Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes.
- Promote the use of innovative tools and technologies.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, project management, engineering, or a related field is required.
- A master’s degree in business administration (MBA) is preferred.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is highly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in project management, including at least 5 years in a leadership or senior project management role.
- Experience in healthcare IT industry is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Asana, etc.).
- Proven experience managing large, complex projects with cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing project budgets and resource management and revenue recognition modeling.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
