RFP Writer - Remote
The RFP Writer (FLSA exempt role) is responsible for assisting in sourcing and crafting compelling and persuasive proposals in response to Request for Proposals (RFPs). Their goal is to help the organization articulate its value and win new business by demonstrating a clear and compelling response that aligns with prospect requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in sourcing requests for proposals/information
- Read incoming requests for proposals.
- Understand prospect needs outlined in the RFP and extract key information, including project scope, objectives, and evaluation criteria.
- Conduct research and information gathering about the prospect, industry, competitors, and any specific nuances that should be addressed in the proposal.
- Participate in kick-off meetings, strategy sessions and proposal project planning.
- Review and customize RFP responses from the proposal content library.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and proposal contributors to articulate complex facets of products and services.
- Review and edit RFP responses created by SMEs and stakeholders from various internal teams.
- Adhere to guidelines: ensure specific guidelines and formatting requirements are met.
- Ensure responses follow brand style and tone guidelines as well as coach SMEs as needed.
- Verify that responses address key customer hot buttons and win themes.
- Write or review additional RFP response documents and attachments including RFP cover letters and executive summaries.
- Assist with proposal knowledge management and retention of content for future use.
- Other duties, as required.
- A bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or Communications is required.
- Certification in grant or proposal writing from The Association for Proposal Management (APMP) is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of technical writing experience using RFP templates is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- The ability to express complex ideas clearly and concisely, and to communicate effectively with colleagues.
- The ability to be highly organized and pay close attention to detail.
- Possess strong research, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, and to prioritize projects effectively.
- The ability to change direction quickly and handle uncertainty.
- Understanding of the healthcare IT industry and its nuances.
